I will be working with the  PIF team as Social Media Marketing Specialist, SEO, SEM & Customer Analytics Consult.  Long self-important title I know, but I’ll be doing all of those things which will enable everything to stay under one umbrella (me). A few of the broad outlined duties at this time:

- Managing Social Media communications and lead generation.
- Content strategy both on main websites and outside communication.
- SEO Analytics and maintenance in order to ensure ongoing optimization, including keyword analysis, ROI and real-time communication alterations.
- Creation of Social Marketing accounts and ongoing support of editorial calendars.

There are some long term goals to push the amount of trips up, increase traffic and awareness, brand awareness and partnerships with like-minding individuals and organizations.

Using Google Documents and Google Sites to create a Forum

Google Sites

Google Sites

Recently I’ve started the task of creating a forum using Google Documents that would integrate nicely with a Wiki I’m building using Google Sites (it’s for an internal use project at Altered Esthetics, so I’m afraid I can’t share the link with the world), while hacking away and documenting the process for a blog post, it occurred to me that I mustn’t be the first to have tackled this.  After some searching  I found the following:

https://sites.google.com/site/chstechnologyresources/creating-a-google-sites-discussion-forum

which lays it out perfectly.  I now have a Wiki, with a forum inside that allows for users to create forum topics and comment, allowing for a fluid discussion that mimics the legacy forum that I’m replacing. Just thought I should share!

Emergence Pictures – Helping with that final 1%

The latest competed project is one that I hesitate to even take any credit for as my involvement was minimal, but makes an important point about getting everything just right…

Emergence Pictures, inc.

Emergence Pictures, inc.

Emergence Pictures, inc. is another amazing website by the talented Luke Grohovsky. Build on WordPress and designed by Luke himself.

“Emergence Pictures and our clients are dedicated to an emerging world view. Locally, nationally and globally there are inspiring organizations, businesses and individuals who have the vision and perseverance to create emerging paradigms, business practices, and services that make this world a better place to be. We align ourselves with those who have the vision to make a holistic and lasting difference. We are known for our emotionally-charged and thought-provoking approach to storytelling through film and video. We believe that the power of film and video is in its ability to make a lasting impression on the head and heart and that is how we approach each new project.”

Luke needed my help tweeking the jQuery slider on the homepage to look exactly as he had hoped.  I’m always glad to help a friend in need, and getting paid in beer isn’t a bad thing either.

New Media & I.T. Director for Altered Esthetics

Altered EstheticsI’m proud to announce yet another major volunteer project of mine that is currently active.  As of this last Saturday, I am officially the New Media & I.T. Director for Altered Esthetics.  After a meeting Saturday morning to go over the needs and the responsibilities of the position, I was unanimously offered the position which I immediately accepted.

If you know me, you know I am more than anything interested in using my skills as an Interactive Media & Marketing Consultant to provide communication as a medium through web management, development, content management and education on how to use such new online tools within communities with a end goal on sustainability.

“Altered Esthetics is a non-profit community art gallery located in Northeast Minneapolis. We work to sustain the role of artists as a voice of society through our exhibits, events, services, workshops and programs.”

This part-time, volunteer position will involve development and maintenance of the website as a hub for connecting artists, social marketing, art gallery events, fundraising, etc. as well as the many other unforeseen challenges that come with a dynamic non-profit. Right up my alley, right?

This board of directors position oversees the online presence and collective communication tools of the organization and the outreach into the community. I expect to re-develop the website using Drupal in order to access the wealth of modular tools and community driven features in order to serve and further Altered Asthetics’ Mission.
