Career update!

aka, where did Clint go? Been pretty busy actually! After 6 months of being very picky and fielding many different full time offers, I’m glad to say that I took a position over at Help/Systems. I really wasn’t sure how I would feel about leaving the world of freelance/contracting and go full time, but I’m really glad I did. I work with some awesome people, and really kind of run the show as head of all things internet over there. Nice be able to call all the shots and not work through project managers to actually get things done :). While I am a consultant almost for our entire media presence, the bulk of my job is Drupal Development. Getting WAY into the Drupal community and very excited about the whole new focus for my work.

What will become of this site? I’m not really sure. Right now the plan is for Sine Interactive to slowly turn into a Drupal shop and maybe ClintCarlson.com will just be a personal blog site that isn’t all about work and portfolios. Playing it by ear :). As for any freelance work, I’m going to continue to work outside of my full time gig, but it’s really going to be geared toward my volunteer projects. So stay tuned, there’s more to come, it’s just evolving ;)

By far Sine Interactive’s largest project, and one we are certainly very proud of!

Thriving Ink came to us at first just to do some tweeks and changes to their website. After some investigation, we pitched a full redesign rather than just patching up problems.

Built on the Drupal framework, Thriving Ink is a full viral, e-commerce website. We setup a backend that will allow the owners to add their own products and change slideshows as well as other content throughout the site.

Down the road we will be doing ongoing SEO tweeks and other changes to keep this site and business cutting edge and able to take anything that’s thrown at it!

Personal Projects – Sine Interactive, E-commerce mockup, Vieques Event Board

So, I’ve finally been able to set aside some time and get caught up on my side projects. So here we go…

Sine Interactive is live! Long time coming and a million redesigns and discussions with Ben Sweet (the other half of S.I.) about the look, functionality, etc. etc. I expect clintcarlson.com to turn into more of a personal site down the road as work gets funneled as Sine Interactive projects that I’ll be working on with Ben.

Part of Sine Interactive is a demo area where we will have examples of products we provide for customers to take a look at and spur their imagination. The first one of which is up, and is a “low end” javascript driven e-commerce cart which items can be ordered via paypal.

We have others cooking that we’re working on that offer credit card security, customer login and content management systems as a “high end”… that will be in the demo area down the road as well, but for now The Wine Store is available to explore. And if you need a cheap, quick e-commerce solution… you know who to call :)

This last one, I’m a little hesitant to make public as I still concider it in Beta, but Vieques List is online and ready for the people of Vieques, PR to contribute to. Totally free, just something I wanted to do to promote communication around where I spend my winters. Maybe it’ll explode, maybe no one will care… basically an experiment in forum/user managment systems that I did something productive with instead of just sending it to the Sine Interactive demo area.

Oh, and, I’ve made ClintCarlson.com multi-lingual. You should see an option in the sidebar for Spanish, just a handy widget I came across.

Wow, enough blabbing & computers, gonna head to the beach and read for a bit :)
